We've met before, haven't we?
I didn't seem so long ago that the idea of a complete Twin Peaks DVD set was just a far off idea to most David Lynch fans. Last Christmas season saw that dream come true. Now another of Lynch's project that desperately needed rescuing from the Hell that is a shitty transfer and pan-and-scan is getting a reissue. On March 25th Lost Highway gets a widescreen DVD release. Since Lynch is doing an interview for the film I'm willing to bet he was involved in the transfer as that's how he's done it in the past. He's pretty particular about these things or haven't you heard?
Lost Highway is the first film of these surreal tales of L.A. Mullholland Dr. and Inland Empire followed. I like to think of it as "nightmare noir." This film especially feels as if Howard Hawks or Don Siegel decided to tell stories based on dream logic. It features Richard Pryor's last film role and probably the last film Robert Blake will do where the plot consists of a man being accused of killing his wife.

I'm almost positive that the DVD of this that I already own is widescreen. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Hmm, I know there's an import that's preferred over the U.S. release. Could that be it? I know the one I saw, rented in an American video store, was full screen. Having already seen the film in theatres I knew I was seeing a shadow of what the film should be.

Shit, and I bought the U.K. release just four months ago. Dammit.
This is probably just a U.S. release of that--it was remastered by Lynch and looks gorgeous.
